Zechariah 3:1-10
Acts 3:11-26
Zechariah
3:1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.
3:2 The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?”
3:3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.
3:4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you.”
3:5 Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the LORD stood by.
3:6 The angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua:
3:7 “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.
3:8 “‘Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.
3:9 See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.
3:10 “‘In that day each of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and fig tree,’ declares the LORD Almighty.”
Acts
3:11 While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.
3:12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
3:13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.
3:14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.
3:15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
3:16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.
3:17 “Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.
3:18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer.
3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
3:20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you–even Jesus.
3:21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.
3:22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.
3:23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.’
3:24 “Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days.
3:25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’
3:26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
